Diamond Microdermabrasion

This system utilizes diamond coated abrasive wands to superficially scrape off dead skin cells. During treatment, the diamond tip is placed on the skin for abrasion, loosening the dead skin cells before they are suctioned off just like in the crystal microdermabrasion procedure.

Fast becoming the microdermabrasion treatment of choice, diamond or crystal-free microdermabrasion has been continuously climbing in popularity. With results and benefits matching up with that of the crystal microdermabrasion system, the absence of the introduction of external matter (crystal particles) onto the skin and its supposed potential side effects are tipping the scales in favor of the diamond microdermabrasion treatment process.

Diamond microdermabrasion tips are removable and are available in various sizes. This allows for better customization in addressing the patient’s particular skin concerns. Tips come in varying levels of coarseness. For example: 100 for coarse skin, 200 for normal skin, and 300 for sensitive skin. The tips are reusable after sterilization in between uses.

Crystal Microdermabrasion

This system uses crystal particulates blasted on to the skin to “sand” off dead cell on its surface. The crystals, along with the dirt and debris from the skin are almost simultaneously vacuumed off through the same device.

In this particular process, microdermabrasion crystals play the central role in exfoliating the skin on the face or body. The crystal particles are loaded into cartridges that attach to the microdermabrasion machine. Powering the machine on sends the microdermabrasion crystals traveling through the tubing, then to the wand, and finally onto an adjustable contact with the skin. The almost concurrent last step is when the used particles are sucked away along with dead skin cells and travel back into the machine to end up deposited into another cartridge set for disposal.

The fine crystal particles make covering the eyes and the nostrils a prerequisite.

There are several options available for microdermabrasion crystals. The most common of which is aluminum oxide. A natural metal compound, aluminum oxide crystals (a.k.a. corundum) has been widely used as an abrasive, both coarse and fine, for various commercial applications and has been in use for skin polishing treatments for the last 20 years. Its efficacy and desirability as an abrasive agent also rests on its hardness (second hardest natural mineral next to the diamond), coarseness, its wide availability, and its anti-bacterial qualities.

Microdemabrasion Systems

Crystal Microdermabrasion is a system that uses blasts of very fine crystals to exfoliate the skin; most commonly used is aluminum oxide but sodium bicarbonate, magnesium oxide, and sodium chloride are also options. This system used to be the standard in microdermabrasion treatments.

Diamond Microdermabrasion is also known as the crystal-free microdermabrasion system because it employs a diamond tipped wand to abrade the skin.

Crystal and Diamond Microdermabrasion is a combination that can utilize both crystal and diamond microdermabrasion systems in one machine.

Home Microdermabrasion, is our latest addition to the categories. Due to popular demand we’re featuring microdermabrasion machines for home use. These are compact versions of the machines we see at salons, spas, and clinics. They perform the same treatments with their diamond-tipped wands and suction capabilities but at a less powerful intensity safe and suitable for non-professionals.

In all systems, the microdermabrasion machine vacuums the dead skin cells away from the skin at the same time it “sands” it.
